What are the different forms of carbon fiber?

It is well known that carbon fiber is a new type of fiber material with high strength and high modulus, containing more than 95% carbon. It has the characteristics of “Soft on the outside but rigid on the inside”, the shell is hard and the textile fiber is soft. It is lighter than aluminum, but stronger than steel, with corrosion resistance, high modulus characteristics. Known as the “New material”, also known as “Black Gold”, is a new generation of reinforced fibers.

These are all superficial knowledge of science. How many people know about carbon fiber?

1. Carbon fiber cloth

From the simpler carbon fiber cloth, carbon fiber is a very thin fiber. It’s about the same shape as a hair, but it’s better than a hair, it’s hundreds of times smaller, but if you want to make a product out of carbon fiber, you have to weave it into a cloth, and then lay it on top of it, layer by layer, and that’s called a carbon fiber cloth.

2. Unidirectional cloth

Carbon fiber bundles, one-way fabric from the same direction from the carbon fiber array. Users said that the use of one-way carbon fiber cloth is not good. It’s just an arrangement, not the mass of the carbon fiber.

Because unidirectional cloth is not beautiful, appear marble grain.

The carbon fiber currently on the market is marble, but few people know how it came to be. It’s as simple as taking the broken carbon fiber to the surface, coating it with resin, vacuuming it, and sticking the pieces together to form a carbon fiber line.

3. Woven cloth

Woven fabrics are commonly referred to as 1K, 3K, and 12K carbon fiber fabrics. 1K is 1,000 pieces of carbon fiber that are woven together. It’s not about the carbon fiber, it’s about the look.

4. Resin

The resin is used to coat carbon fiber. Without the resin coated carbon fiber, it’s soft, 3,000 carbon fibers break in a single pull, but coated with resin, the carbon fiber is harder than iron and stronger than steel. Grease coating is also more special, one is called Preg, one is called common law. Pre-impregnation involves pre-coating the resin before using a carbon cloth mold; the common method is to use it however you want. The prepreg should be stored at low temperature and cured at high temperature and ya, so that the carbon fiber will have high strength. In common law use, the resin and curing agent are mixed, coated on a carbon cloth, pressed together, then vacuum dried and left for several hours.
