a. Easy to check, high reliability, no residual stress.
b. Assembly, good maintainability.
c. Less affected by the environment.

shortcoming:
a. Higher requirements for hole making.
b. After the hole is made, the local stress concentration around the hole reduces the connection efficiency.
c. The impact of electrochemical corrosion is relatively large.
d. Hole punching may cause product performance degradation.

3. Hybrid connections.

To put it simply, hybrid connection is to apply adhesive bonding and mechanical connection together, so that the overall performance advantage is better.

advantage:
a. To prevent or delay the expansion of adhesive layer damage, improve the performance of anti-stripping, impact resistance, fatigue resistance and creep resistance;
b. In the case of sealing, shock absorption and insulation, the connection strength is further increased and the load transmission capacity is improved;
c. Isolate metal fasteners and composite materials, no electrochemical corrosion.

shortcoming:
a. Tough adhesives should be used to coordinate the deformation of the adhesive joint with the deformation of the mechanical connection as much as possible.
b. It is necessary to improve the matching precision between the fastener and the hole, otherwise it is easy to cause shear damage of the adhesive layer and reduce the connection strength.
